An open letter to anybody out there
who can tell me WHY?
Why do we need so many handguns in this country? In the United States there is an average of 44 people shot to death each day. That totals over 16,000 gun homicides a year.
In all of 1994, only 38 people were shot to death in Japan. Less people were shot to death in Japan in an entire year than in one day in this great country of ours. A person caught with a loaded handgun in Japan can be imprisoned for 15 years.
Can somebody please tell me why we can’t follow Japan’s lead and ban handguns? Why can’t we have tougher laws? I will gladly publish all worthwhile responses to this article in an upcoming issue.
My advice as always to my reading audience... Get actively involved in worthwhile causes and you can change things. It may not happen overnight, but if you don’t start, it may never happen.
